Bringing home your Puppy!

Bringing home your new puppy is exciting but it can also be a little intimidating. That's why we want to send our new puppy parents home with as much info as possible, we also encourage you to give us a call any time for any reason.

        1.  Before you go to pick up your puppy it is important to have all the essentials ready in your home.  It just makes bringing home puppy a more enjoyable experience , not a stressful one.

- Set up your crate in a quite place for puppy to sleep.
- Have your food already bought before you bring your puppy home.
- If you don't already have a trusted vet, do some research and find the best possible vet in your area.
- Have grooming supplies ready, A doodle needs to be brushed, they need their nails clipped and the hair around their eyes and in their ears trimmed.
-Toys~ puppies will be puppies- having toys around gives them something to do so they don't find their own method of play, say with your shoes or furniture.

       2. When coming to pick up your pup, either from our home or from the airport it is important to bring a leasleash and collar.  You may have an unexpected stop in your travels home and it is important that your puppy does not get loose.

       3.  For the 1st couple of days it will be an adjustment for you and the puppy.  Don't be alarmed if your puppy's appetite drops, this is normal.  It should pick up in a day or two.  If it doesn't then consult your vet . Also it is not abnormal for the puppy to have loose stool for the 1st couple of days when adjusting to a new home.  If this does not stop after a couple of days please consult your vet.

      4. We strongly encourage our new puppy owners to enroll in puppy training classes.  It's a great way for you and your puppy to bond.  It also teaches your puppy to socialize with other dogs. And we can't forget it teached obdeince so that your puppy is a well behaved family member.  (Remember we all need rules/ boundaries and structure!)
